A Step Forward in Brotherhood

Knights of Columbus emblem April 21, 2026

Tonight I went through the Exemplification of the Third Degree with the Knights of Columbus, and it was exactly the kind of step I had been looking forward to.

It was a meaningful evening without being over the top. We received our rosaries, took part in the ceremony, and then sat down to break bread together afterward. The whole thing had a solid, brotherly feel to it. Nothing flashy, just real.

I am excited about what comes next. Joining the Knights means more opportunities to serve my community and do charitable work alongside my Catholic brothers. That sense of shared faith and shared values is what drew me in from the start.

What makes this even more special is the family connection. My great-grandfather was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the St. Mary's Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #6984, and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Cunningham Assembly. Knowing I am following in his footsteps after all these years feels deeply meaningful.

One of the best parts of the night was having my wife and kids there to watch the exemplification. It meant a lot to have them with me for this moment. They got to see what it is about, and I think they enjoyed it too. I also met a lot of great men from the area - friendly, down-to-earth guys who seem like the kind you can count on. I am already looking forward to getting to know them better and working together.

All in all, it was a memorable night. I am glad I took this step, and I am ready to get more involved with the council.
